Dan Taberski’s These C*cksucking Tears, 2016 jury award winner at SXSW
is a documentary short about Patrick Taggerty, who wrote, sang and released
the first gay-themed country music album in 1973.
But with only a thousand copies made, the album soon disappeared and became
a gay urban myth. 40 years later, Lavender Country was rediscovered and lauded
by critics as a ’resonant and wonderful…a rare act of bravery and honesty’.
